01
Kickoff
Key considerations: Our complete redesign and methods had to seamlessly incorporate already existing brand guidelines.
-
We studied the existing brand and implemented Agile development processes to replace the existing Waterfall methods to ensure productivity.
Obsidian Global LLC stakeholders presented us with the redesign and modernization of their corporate website. As a rapidly growing small-business IT government services provider, Obsidian needed its website to reflect their past performance, highlight their recent business wins, and establish credibility with future clients.
02
Project Management
Our scrum meetings with stakeholders determined the business requirements that my team had to fulfill. I created our project management flowchart on Trello to guide our team through completing tasks.

03
Design System Refinement
To refine and develop the Obsidian brand, we used existing color schemes and logos to ideate on brand styles and typography.

04
Design Process
After translating business requirements from stakeholders & project management, we started the creative process. I dove into project inspiration, the discovery of fresh new ways to present already existing information, and industry trends. I used existing color schemes and logos to ideate site maps, and wireframe work.

Sitemapping: Our redesign and methods had to seamlessly incorporate business requirements set by stakeholders.
-
We pinpointed the key elements of the website & site landing pages that had to be created

Wireframing: To prepare for scrum meetings, I create low to high-fidelity wireframes in Sketch and XD to present to stakeholders to ensure all requirements are fulfilled.
-
For this 6mo project, we went through 12 sprint-cycles to flush out and revise wireframes.

05
Proposed Design
After executing the UI design for the new Obsidian website via wireframes, I created high-fidelity Prototypes using the XD prototyping software to create a fully-functioning mock website. This gave stakeholders the ability to test user experience and provide feedback to ensure a user-friendly interface.

Design Audit
In order to obtain the CMMI Dev/3 2.0 certification, the site was externally audited to meet the certification requirements. It was also audited internally for content flaws and usability errors.

Conclusion
This project allowed me to step into a role where I was able to get comfortable leading a team of developers and designers to fulfill the design goals. Working on this project put every design and leadership skill I possess.
Success Criteria: Using the agile development process, and meeting with stakeholders/clients every 2 weeks was necessary for me to accomplish the final product.
Overcoming constraints: With a vacant design lead position looming as we neared the deadline for project start & completion, I was able to gain the confidence to step into the role to showcase my leadership and design skills.
